Biggest association in pv solar: EPIA - Tenesol

As the largest association in the PV sector, it not only promotes the interests of the entire industry with regard to international, European and national decision-makers, it strives constantly to deliver tangible, forged advantages to all its Members. Members simply need to belong to the association to benefit from services fashioned for each of their key departments; the EPIA legal representative is always on hand to answer questions raised by your departments, be it management, Marketing or Communication.

Political advantages

The European Union is the biggest proponent of  renewable energies in Europe through its policies. About 70% of national legislation originates in European Union legislation.

EPIA speaks with a single voice for the European PV industry via the following activities:

  • EPIA has taken over as head of the Solar Europe Initiative, part of the European Union's Strategic Energy Technology Plan (SET Plan), which gives the industry the new target of covering the 12% rise in electricity demand in the European Union before 2020. The SET Plan for 2020 is to provide the industry with strategic advice via a clear, concrete road map for accelerated growth. The SET Plan for 2020 will define the strategic EPIA priorities over the next few years.
  • EPIA played an active part in preparing the directive on promoting the use of Renewable Energy Sources, providing a clear and advantageous legal structure to encourage the PV sector.
  • EPIA works to ensure that the PV potential is considered in the Mediterranean Solar Plan, with its goal of 20 GW of new renewable energy capabilities before 2020 in the Mediterranean region.

EPIA also has a national role:

  • EPIA supports the inclusion of PV in the national Renewable Energy Action Plans
  • EPIA supports national PV industry associations in their objectives
  • EPIA maintains and supports extending purchase tariffs and other advantageous support programmes
  • EPIA works with other PV stakeholders and coordinates the European PV Technology Platform Secretariat
  • EPIA will provide expert assessment on request
